Post Graduation

Illustration

Presentation

This postgraduate course in illustration intends to enable students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for the creation and development of illustrations suitable for different contexts, such as children’s books, newspapers and magazines, environments and facilities, cultural events, among others. For some students this will be the answer to an artistic and personal search; for others it will be a professional advantage and enrichment, integrated into a long-term learning plan.

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • briefly know the context and history of illustration;
  • critically think about the new challenges illustrators are faced with;
  • create and conceptualize characters and environments that are supposed to be materialised through illustration;
  • organize the compositional field of illustration, keeping in mind its narrative purpose through the use of visual elements and strategies;
  • recognise and know how to use different specific materials;
  • know how to draw ideas – how to communicate via drawing;
  • develop the use of both traditional and digital illustration techniques and resources;
  • • realise how to illustrate according to different contexts;
  • • develop autonomy, critical and creative awareness in the conception, execution and implementation of an illustration project.
